There are many differences between a supermarket and a local market. If someone wants to buy fresh vegetables with lower prices he(or she) needs to go to a local market. Furthermore, people in the local market can experiecnce the Sun and negociate with sellers. On the contrary, a supermarket is running a price tag system which doesn't need any negotiation. All vegetables are well-ordered so that people can save their shopping time. Meanwhile, the local market is noisy and there is narrow path and more complicated due to so many customers. A supermarket usually opens everyday until late and people are able to compare the price or goods' conditions. Therefore, I prefer a supermarket to purchase vegetables. When I walk around in a supermarket which is very bright, modern, clean and convenient, I am very comfortable.

TBS 2, Blog Entry 2, Effects of globalization on my life, Week 4
Tuesday, May 1, 2007
The whole world has been changing quickly and is in the process of the unity at every aspect such as culture, custom, goods, city type and common law. Some special things such as media, newspapers, internet, or wealth are promoting globalization.
The first thing that effects of globalization on my life is to encourage moving to New Zealand. It is not usual that I go abroad to study or live in another country due to my introspective character. In addition, I am learning English in order to use it more properly everyday because English is a common language in the world. And somebody says, this world could be called 'a blue ocean' which indicates peace in oppose to ‘red ocean’ which indicates war. People in the period of 'a red ocean' usually had to compete to get better things such as position, wealth or power.
However, globalization has accelerated people to cooperate with each other so that I have to collaborate with anybody. Otherwise nobody including me can survive in the earth.
Furthermore, one of the most greatest effects is that I don’t hesitate to go anywhere to live or work due to help of the media or internet which is the main tools of globalization. Through those I am able to contact my family, friends or colleagues promptly if I want to let them know my situation urgently. The last effect for me is to understand other nationalities’ cultures and customs because I can get the knowledge of other people before I meet them. It makes me more gentle and polite without any misunderstanding.

TBS 2, Blog Entry 5, My break, week 7
I have visited a macademia farm which is in the region of Hellensville with some people including my family during my holiday. It was so agitated visiting. First of all, we did not know where it was exactly so we wandered for a bit long time to find out the location of it. It made us so excited. In addi
tion, we had a look trees with macademia nuts and a lake fulled with fallen leaves. Furthermore, amazing taste of those enchanted us to be happy and we saw wonderful goods made from that fruit. Moreover, what we have been impressed is practicing to break hard shells of those with a cute tool and sampling kernels of macademia nuts without cost. I strongly recommend you go there and experience to fantastic features of the farm.

I was so amazed when I listened recently to the music for the first time. And I listen every time I take my car and am able to remember the rhythm and the words of songs. People call their music style 'popera' which is combined pop and opera. In other words, this type is a combination of classic and pop music so that people enjoy listening repeatdly. If you want to know where they have visited and have a look at gallery of their perfomance you have to visit the website. You can listen to all their songs Online or you can purchase the CD at record stores now.

US boosts security in Germany over terror threat
This is a story about security in Germany. The US embassy in Germany is setting up the security due to the increased risk of terrisom. In addition, the US embassy encourages Americans in Germany to reinforce their personal security. According to several newspapers, US facilities and people in Germany might be attacked by Iraqi militants. Two Germans were kidnapped and there was a failed attempt to blow up two German trains.
In newspapers, most verb forms reporting what happened are past simple form. There is a past continuous: were scouting, and three past perfect: had increased, had conducted, had received which explain that some affairs were completed in the past. I could find a few present tense and one present coutinuous tense: are increasing. Furthermore, present perfect: have urged, has not suffered, has threathened, one present perfect continuous tense(have been working) were used. Moreover, I saw one passive past tense(was echoed).

Have you belonged to a Union overseas or in NZ? Why would I need a Union? Everybody needs to have a right to be protected through the Union to keep life balance. Lots of workers organise themselves into a voluntary association or union with respect to wages, hours, working conditions or any other matters.
According to recent investigation, around 330,000 people joined a Union; among them 51.5% are women. The reason why women rate is a little bit higher than men is the number of women working as nurses or teachers is quite high.
A Union leader can be elected by members voting. The members can go on strike if the agreement has expired, when negociating a new CA or they give a reasonable reason. You need to join a Union and pursue more satisfaction with working conditions such as fair pay, entitlement, working hours or environment.

TBS 2, Blog Entry 1, About me! Week3

Hi everyone.
I am James. I am doing a Diploma English course at Unitec this year, 2007. When I arrived here with my family in 2002, I was so frightened, I couldn't find anybody in the street. Actually, this is so different from my country, South Korea. Now I understand this country is very calm and peaceful due to less population.
In addition, the evironmental merit of NZ such as clean air, water, wide green fields or lots of trees are enough to attract my family to stay longer. We have had difficulty in comunicating with people who use English as their mother tongue. So all my family are currently studying English to accomplish our goals; my children are studying at Royal Oak primary school and my wife and I are studying English hard. We are living in the area of One Tree Hill.
We have travelled to many areas and cities since we came to New Zealand. Particularly, we went to the South Island last holiday for 2 weeks. It was so exciting and lots of
fun. To understand NZ culture, geography or customs immigrants may have to look around cities and famous places.
fun. To understand NZ culture, geography or customs immigrants may have to look around cities and famous places. I am studying English to live a much better life in this country. There are many ways to live a good life in NZ, for instance, making friends who are using a different language everyday, visiting places with historical traces, and so on. Therefore, I want to understand various life styles to love all nationalities. I hope everybody experiences a better life in NZ. Bless you!
